Imagine being so surface level that you completely ignore goth’s post punk roots and what punk stood for. Punk was so deeply tied to politics…like punk addressed classism and anarchism so much along with protests. You’re actually a poser if you can’t even understand the history of the subculture you are in.
Last I checked, I had thrifted this entire outfit and in my other post on here, I used my indigenous clothing as part of my outfits. Where I am from, even dressing in black is already frowned upon along with face piercings or trad goth makeup or corpse paint. I listen to the music, I’m pretty active politically, oh and being a racist “im neutral!/leave politics out of alt” ahole in 2026 is as conformist as it gets.
It’s so interesting that absolute posers like you who clearly have never interacted with real goths have something to say about non-conformity. You act as though other aspects of goth CULTURE doesn’t exist. Listening to the music, wearing clothes you make/thrift, being leftist, and loving the macabre is part of goth. I quite literally collect bones and practice Indigenous Shamanism/Witchcraft.
I’m also an indigenous burmese chinese person so assuming you’re an American asshat who is privileged enough to not be political, I live under 2 dictatorships and one country of mine is hunting minorities down and waging civil wars. These same dictatorships want to have uniformity and constantly push strict laws that marginalises minorities and alternative subcultures. Dressing this way could get me in trouble, put me in a position of sexual and verbal harassment, and be treated badly. Jump. 🖤
Ok, so really the only argument you have is “nuh uh”. do you think goth originated out of nowhere? do you think the ties to literature and architecture is coincidental? do you think the funerary colors and corpse pain are just because society doesn’t like them? no. things have reasons. Just because you can not grasp that doesn’t make it false
