5โ€™3 and used to weight 245, not sure my weight atm but i saw my pictures from 2021 and see a difference ๐Ÿฅน iโ€™ve been doing cardio and core workouts so far to work on being able to lift my own weight before i lift additional weight!

lifting additional weight is great and you should start now. you'll become stronger, so your everyday life will get easier. you'll probably undergo body recomposition or lose fat. you'll be much more physically capable and better at most sports. don't wait!

i am actually trying to lose some muscle in my traps so iโ€™m scared of doing any upper body weight training, but i do weighted squats and will try to incorporate it into my core exercises! ty for the advice :)

i'm doing the same! you can still do upper body lifts. pressing (overhead press, bench press, etc) and arm exercises should be fine. for pulling motions and shoulders don't go to the end of your range of motion and make sure you can really feel your muscles and not your traps and you should be okay. if you're doing lateral raises be careful but otherwise don't worry about it.
