Women are more prone to osteoporosis and apparently lifting can help. Does anyone know how much weight is needed to lift?

We talked about this in nursing. If I remember correctly it’s truly about just moving your body, not about lifting a certain amount

the heavier the load is, the more it will stimulate your osteoblasts to lay down new bone. so, while it isnt necessarily about lifting X amount of weight, the more weight you (safely) lift, the more bone will be produced (to an extent!)

Iike obviously working out consistently will help but I’m not that strong…I feel like I can lift heavier day to day items rather than weights

that being said, if you dont normally work out and you are starting with just like bodyweight squats, just that movement holding your own weight will still be enough to stimulate the creation of new bone, going off of what #1 said
