I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think body recomp is vastly overrated in the fitness sphere and slows progress more than anything.

This is obviously not to say people should stay out of the gym, but seeking progressive overload, especially for someone with a significant amount of weight to lose is just gonna slow progress, where you could probably get your health in a better spot faster if you just did maintenance lifts, and upped the deficit.

Oh 100% body building is not the best or healthiest way to go about the gym. People are obsessed with looks tho sooo

And I say this is someone who fell into this trap where I was stuck at 30 pounds above my current weight for months because I was worried about losing muscle and when I just bumped up the deficit and stop trying to lift more or heavier, I was able to cut so much faster and still have the aesthetic results I wanted.

And if we’re being really honest, the people online who have results super fast are likely on growth hormone peptides, and a GLP-1 in order to achieve that.

Lift and be in a caloric deficit. You can’t spot reduce or eliminate an area from losing mass. You can keep hitting legs and keeping up their capacity to limit what you might lose

Yeah, #1 is right, barring like lipo or other surgery, there really isn’t a method to maintain size in one area and loose in others.
