Kinda wish there was a more body-neutral Girl Gym group because some (not all!!) of the stuff I see here are very clearly EDs or promoting EDs rip

What have you seen here that promotes EDs ? Just curious

Oh um… I don’t disagree with the body neutral part but like maybe we don’t need to be saying all that ED stuff…

I’ve been part of this group for a little over a year now so I’ve seen a good amount, but just recently there was a post from a person who “couldn’t stop cutting weight” because she “obviously wanted to be on the skinny trend” and another person who posted her body saying she had an apron belly when she was clearly very very small. It’s a lot of body dysmorphia and treating body types like fashion trends which is dangerous. Obviously not all posts are like this!

Also obviously a lot of these people have body issues that they’re dealing with but calling it a “trend” is very troubling to me

I saw that “skinny trend” post today and yeah that made me sad and it was troubling to see that people think like that. I used to be one of those people and sometimes I want to help but I’m not sure how to approach people and tell them that their mindset is screwed up.

I also see a lot of misinformation spread here. I think that as women we get a lot of things thrown at us about what we should eat and how to achieve the body that we want and half of it is not even true. I wish more girls would do their own research instead of just listening to random faceless people on the internet.
