I’m so tired of my parents being against me working out because I’m a woman. I want to share my progress with my family but I know they’ll be all weird about it. God forbid I pick up a weight

Next time they say some shit simply push them on the ground then pick them up and start bicep curling them.

Sorry to hear that, I grew up in church and all that and my mom and sister both work out almost daily, as well as me and my brother. Weird family ig, good luck w the gains though!

Never listen to them girl, you’re bettering yourself and YOU know that. Just because they’re your family doesn’t mean they can’t be bad people. If they wanna act like that, protect your peace.

you need to tell them being worried ab a woman lifting weights becoming manly is like being afraid of singing in the shower bc ur scared you’ll turn into beyoncé.

My dad doesnt really care and he actually wants to see everyone in the family hit the gym but my mom consistently harasses me about my gains telling me that my arms are too big and I need to stop because im “hurting” myself and she tries to attribute pain or sickness i get to being due to the gym. Mentally taxing. (I’m a man)

working out is healthy? its not all about body building (which is fine if thats what you want) but workouts have a baseline goal of being healthier? its extends your life? why is that bad

Lifting is particularly important for women?? It helps with bone density which goes to shit if you have kids and when you get old. It’s literally preventing you from needing a hip replacement at 65 or falling and breaking bones when you’re old

That sucks, it’s a shame that so many people have this backwards idea of what people should look like. Keep getting those gains! Don’t let anyone push you around! You’re awesome!

I never understood why the world holds such a GRIP on women for shit that’s not even their business, even other women themselves belittle other women for not being “ladylike” it’s it’s so dumb It just feels like needless bullshit to make women powerless

I grew up in the church and right now I’m expected to be married and pooping out babies, not being in the gym teaching my boyfriend how to work out. My dad always said how he expected me to be the most like him, then I hit puberty and became the most like him and now he wants very little to do with me 👍

We are in this strange time period where in order to “honor your father and mother” you can regard their advice but recognize they’ve been misled themselves so long, especially on health/diet related things. They will eventually come around. It’s a very “show em don’t tell em” type of thing.
