but if i do a dumbbell super set with cables for 2 sets which is just me doing my cable work and instantly super set with my dumbbells next to me is that bad?

nah that’s fine. I think it’s a bad way to train, but you’re not hurting anyone else

i only do it for lateral raises since it helps for me it may not work for others but it helps immensely for me tbh

I mean it’s nice as a timesaver, but overall hurts your training effectiveness

broski, i’m saying for me it isn’t hurting the training effectiveness, i’ve done testing for my kinesiology class and it’s been helping my muscle grown it’s helping me go to failure more effectively everyone’s body is different for me it works

making it easier to get to failure by tiring yourself out isn’t helping you achieve more hypertrophy, because you’re just lowering the threshold to failure below maximal motor unit recruitment. This is basic kines man. That’s like saying running a marathon before you bench makes it easier to achieve failure. No shit, because you’re tired and you’re gonna have worse sets.

i’m literally supersetting the same workout together it’s me doing a “drop set” essentially i go from cable lateral raises to dumbbell lateral raises since i need an intermediate weight from my gym since the cables only do 12.5 different while dumbbells can do a 5lb difference

drop sets are even worse for hypertrophy than supersets are lol

you do what you want lol, but hypertrophy works by the same principle for everyone. Idc if you want to do dropsets, but when others are asking for advice, I’m gonna be objective.

everyone’s training regime can be different from what works best for some rather than others

Yeah they can be, but there’s always constants when it comes to effective training. One of those constants is achieving maximal motor unit recruitment, which is actively impeded by supersets.
