If I can bench 115x4 can I bench a plate ? (I’ve only max up to 125)

Okay I’ll try to go for 115 for 5 later this week for my bench, I’m a girl btw and I’ve got a bet going about if I’ll be able to bench a plate by end of July

Probably wanna be at 115lbs for 5~6 reps to be sure but it also highly depends on the individual. Some people are a lot better at more reps and some are better at lower rep heavier sets. Me for instance, when I hit 355lbs on bench, I could barely do 3 sets of 2 with 315lbs. Now at 380lbs that looks more like 2 sets of 5 with 315lbs.

Though honestly, I’d just progress my working sets if I was you. I think you’ll be surprised at how quick you’ll get to 135lbs for 5 doing that.

That’s super doable. Work your way up to 115lbs for 8 reps then add 5lbs and repeat 💪🏽
