I'm the laziest person in the world unfortunately. I can't be bothered setting up and then putting all the weights back, it takes too long and I have to do at least an hour of cardio already.

It does, but it’s far from the most efficient way to build a back. I can deadlift 455 and it’s fun as hell, but I made substantially better back gains focusing on more effective back movements.

Which I hit in other exercises that target those parts of my back better than a deadlift.

I don’t think in my 10+ years of training I have ever seen such a blasphemous sentence. Deadlifts get you huge. There’s a reason all these huge athletes you see do deadlifts and other posterior chain work. It gets you massive.

Deadlifts will get you huge if you do them hard and consistently yeah. Never refuted that. You will also get better results if you train with that same intensity with exercises that are better at training your back. You can do either, and if you prefer deadlifting, more power to you, and you will see results doing it. I prefer more focused training to maximize growth, and that’s just me. Theres no right or wrong here.
