i’m somewhat new to the gym so i’m working on a consistent routine. my overall goal is to lose weight and build muscle. so far, this is my gym split but i might add a fourth day for abs. is this an okay start? any changes i should make?

You should incorporate tricep and hamstring isolation exercises as well as ab work. In my opinion there’s a lot of volume on day 1 that can be decreased. I would also do my back exercises first before bicep. Other than that it seems solid. If your goal is losing weight, throw some cardio on the end too. If you want I have a full schedule I can give you that I’ve used for the last year or so

You're doing too much volume. Cut down on your overall reps and sets so that it's easier to go heavier during your workouts and easier to recover between workouts.

thank you for the feedback. what would be the ideal amount of reps and sets? does that just depend on how heavy i can lift?
