I lost 100 pounds, it’s really as simple as burning more calories than you eat. I recommend starting your focus on diet and then adding in exercise, otherwise exercise will increase your appetite and if you’re not careful you’ll end up just eating more to compensate the extra calorie burn.
For diet, I’ve done a few different things, from restricting myself to one meal per day and eating whatever I wanted to being very restrictive and tracking macros closely. No matter what, I found the best thing to do was to set hard rules for myself that I can’t break, e.g I can only eat 1 meal per day, no calories outside of that. As soon as I break that rule once, it becomes very easy to start slipping so it has to be a very hard rule to live by.
Walking a lot and going out into the real world and doing things that get your mind off food is also effective. The only time I’ve ever lost weight effortlessly is by working at a summer camp because I was getting 25k steps a day without thinking about it and I was so busy there wasn’t time to think about food.
