How does one get into the gym? I have always had a problem with not staying consistent, and people tell me I have potential but I just have no drive or discipline. Lowkey feel like i’m failing myself but idk dawg. This is me without any gym experience.

The one thing no one ever says, and the one thing guaranteed to work… find what you LIKE. I love weight lifting, I physically enjoy going to the gym and lifting. That’s the only thing keeping me going.

find an external source of accountability. tell friends and/or family you will be going to the gym at least x days a week and have them come up with some sort of punishment for every week you dont do that

Everyone has to start somewhere and don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice from others in the gym because that’s what helped me when I first started. Eventually if you get into the habit long enough the gym will become part of your lifestyle

i’ve tried that too sadly, but like it always dies yk? and when i dont have that punishment or way of accountability, the habit dies too, if that makes sense? ig im just asking how do i tell my mind to stfu and just go

Lmao yes, as someone who also loves caffeine. But also I meant more so in the things you do to stay active. You say you have “potential” but there are so many things you could do other than just “gym.” Maybe you like weight lifting, or Pilates, yoga, running, swimming…. Find what you enjoy and want to do, and it won’t be as difficult to keep doing it.

“so many things you can do other than just gym” like DYING WHILE RUNNING?! i can’t do running, i will DIE! ahem, but like yeah yeah i understand yup. ty ty ty, what if i just enjoy sleeping though? 🤔💀 i have tried weight lifting and i got bored and used all the weights i have at home. only thing i remotely do is if my dad needs a make shift son to move concrete or bricks 😭✋

Loll that’s fair. Everyone has their thing tho I swear you just gotta find it. I’m so biased tho when it comes to weight lifting, I love it. Gyms used to make me so nervous but iv gotten over it now and I’m basically unstoppable.

I can guarantee you literally nobody even sees you in the gym. Half the folks are so exhausted from lifting their vision is blurred, the rest are fully focused on themselves and feeling like they're being watched too. Nobody even knows you walked in the door.
