I know there is a lot of hate with gloves and lifting straps, as a woman I have soft hands so heavy lifts hurt and I don’t want rough hands. Could someone explain the hate, maybe from a male perspective? Is it a technique issue or about being “soft”?

It’s all stupid. It’s just about being “soft” from losers who care way too much what other people do. The lifting steps hate is even stupider, because you need them if you want to train seriously. I don’t care how strong you think your grip is, it will NOT be strong enough to keep up with your back, and if it is, you have a weak back.

as another female lifter, i don’t use gloves because honestly my calluses make me feel so proud of my hard work but there is nothing wrong with gloves either!! as lifting straps are SO USEFUL. i use them a lot on my leg days when my legs can lift more than my hands can hold (like on RDLs)

People who hate on straps are uneducated about how useful they are, but they're in the minority. But a lot of lifters do hate on gloves because they think they're "soft"

Honesty even the bro man gym bros judging guys for this stuff would not judge a woman for it

honestly, your best bet is just getting calluses but filing them down a little and moisturizing. gloves weaken your grip on the bar and can make you grow more calluses sometimes.

It’s all really dumb it doesn’t matter for like 99% of people (and that 1% is powerlifters when comparing deadlifts). Gloves is just for memes I don’t think anyone in the gym actually cares. You can also train without straps until your grip gets fatigued THEN use the straps. So even that argument is dumb lol.

That’s just not really how it works. You’ll never be getting an effective set of heavy rows without straps if you’re even remotely strong, it just isn’t possible.

Love that. Me too. I’m like incidentally displaying my callouses at work when they’re particularly big lol.
