There are usually big backup stoppers at the bottom that won’t let it fall all the way down. It may hurt your knee or something depending on how you’re resting but it won’t fully crush you

As a metallurgy/welding engineer, the welded posts I’ve seen on leg presses would never even yield to the amount of force you can load on there, let alone actually break
