I completely disagree. The weights are always arbitrary, like just rounding up to 200 or something. If a machine provides a good fixed bar path and resistance profile, then that could make an actual difference for advanced lifters. I don't see how it's selfish, inconsiderate, or dumb
Machines use cables with a safety factor much higher than the weights used. If gym equipment was broken, it's the gym's fault for not replacing it much sooner, as all cables are expected to wear down over time. I'd also love to hear about an isolation quad or hamstring exercise that is convenient to setup and progress on, since you're the one asking about new ways to progressive overload
im never asked for new ways to progressive overload 😭 also it’s just annoying when my gym has both plate loaded and cable leg machines and the cable ones always break bc of gympins. also btw elevated goblet/smith squats and smith sldls are great besides doing single leg on the machine
