It’s political because quite literally everything is political. Politics is the nature of something’s presence within a society. That doesn’t mean we need to bring up the political aspects of something, because that is miserable, but to deny that anything is political is simply ignorant
And there are countless ways you can point to how fitness is political. The fact that I have the time in my day to go to the gym, have a gym close by, am able to afford a membership, have an education on how to workout, can afford a good diet, and can make my personal fitness a priority in my life are all examples of my privilege, and to take any of that for granted or deny that it is political when our environment keeps others from those same resources is simply wrong. I can keep going.
I literally said in my comment that you don’t have to bring up the political aspects lol. I hardly ever talk about the politics involved with fitness, because yeah, it’s annoying and miserable to talk about. I just don’t deny that fitness is a political subject, because again, literally everything is linked to politics.
The difference is that Lebron is a basketball player (the goat and my king, but still a basketball player) while politics is literally describing the place everything in our lives has within our society. In other words, fitness’s connect with politics is something that is tangible, while your connection with Lebron isn’t (my connection with my sweet king is very real though 🥰🥰)
Because your relation to Lebron is irrelevant lol. Politics are a thing that matter. Also, your relation to Lebron is going to be virtually nonexistent, while I can draw a direct line to how fitness has its place in politics. Hell, we have a whole fucking department of health and human services. How is government sanctioned funding of things like sidewalks, accessible healthy foods, regulations on our food, NOT political?
There’s also the fact that there’s relevance to stating how fitness is political, while stating how you and Lebron are both human is not relevant. Also, yes breathing is fucking political lol. Look up what the air quality is like in places like China, Japan, Pakistan, India, etc. The safety of our air to breathe is directly correlated to how we manage industrialization and how much our government prioritizes keeping our air quality clean.
Again, I’m not one of those people who brings this shit up, because I’m not a miserable person who loves talking politics in subjects like this. However, if you are going to bring the subject up, I’ll engage with it, and you are SEVERELY ignorant if you believe this shit isn’t political.
