how do i know if it's time i stop cutting and go back to maintenance.. for reference im 5'5 and 121 lbs

That’ll depend on your goals. A common thing to go by is body fat percentage. But end of the day it’s really up to you and your goals. If you cut so much to the point where your lifting less weight and a lot more tired for example that’s a bit excessive

If male you’re in skinny-fat territory. I’m 5’6” 155 and 14% bf and only now starting to cut aggressively. My leanest ever was 138.

Go based off what you look like and what your goals are honestly. Without knowing what you look like advice is limited to just that. When I’m in a position where I can go either way I usually finish off by getting leaner then I slowly go back to my old weight while trying to get stronger. I usually end up a few pounds above my old heaviest at the end of a cycle. Repeat until you’re over it.
