Remember if you’re not wanting to be a body builder you don’t need to eat like one. Work out 3-4 time a week intense,Eat a balanced diet, stop before you over eat, and have a few drinks on the weekend with your friends or a dessert. be healthy, enjoy life

exactly. optimal gains comes from perfect habits, but they are just that—optimal. gains at a less-than-optimal rate are still gains, and they’re better in my book if they let you forget about calorie counting and driving yourself crazy about tiny things

They track every calorie they eat to the T. They also don’t have cheat days/meals. They also follow a workout plan and are just very strict on what they eat and how they workout

Unless you’re training to be a competing body builder there’s no reason to eat and train like one. It’s definitional larping

Unless you are an experienced lifter who knows how to intuitively eat, track your food. You can enjoy your life while also “eating like a bodybuilder”

Eat in a deficit and walk 7,000-12,000 steps while eating 0.8g of protein, 0.3-0.5g of fat, and 1-2g of carb per lb of bw. Train 3-5x a week. Do this until you’re satisfied with how you look before starting a small surplus/maintenance.

Eat a balanced diet and work out with intensity. There’s nothing wrong with tracking calories for a diet but unless you’re actually going to compete you can reach your goals in a much less intense dietary way

I’m not saying you shouldn’t track your food if you’re starting out. That’s what a diet is. I’m saying you don’t need to be starving yourself and not drinking water to look more lean and doing massive bulks and cuts when you’re not competing

I would say my issue is def diet, I went to the gym for a year 5x a week and I see muscle improvement in my arms and legs. somewhat improvement to my chest but it’s mainly fat along with my stomach being the biggest issue. Just feels so weird since the solution isn’t just to eat less bc then I lose muscle and if I eat more I gain weight

You don’t need to be insanely lean(unless you want to be), remember most movies and gymfluencers are either in perfect lighting or have been fasting and water cutting for a day or two before so they’re bone dry to look lean. Stop eating before you get totally full, go to the gym, do more cardio than you think, and eat a balanced diet (the food plate that trump got rid of is a perfect place to start for balancing). You’ll see the results you want.
