Hey yall! I’m pretty fresh out of cancer treatment and unfortunately lost a lot of muscle that took years to build and gained fat from meds 🥲 (in remission tho!!) At 160 lbs, trying to cut to 145-150, then focus on muscle growth. Any tips??

First off, congrats but also just eat lots of protein low calorie foods since you’ve already gained the muscle once it won’t take nearly as long to get it back

Fresh out of cancer treatment is time to rebuild. You have recovery to do, so I’d recommend a maintenance or lean bulk first. Give yourself time to get stronger

congrats! don’t be afraid to refeed :) your body just survived a tremendously hard event (we’re proud of you) don’t skip out of a healthy diet and even a little surplus of 500 or so to grow muscle

Congrats on remission, but iirc once you build muscle your body essentially remembers it and you can build it back faster. So dont be too discouraged.

Grind it out. Progress will be slow. If you're fresh out of treatment I'd recommend that you forget about losing fat for now and just focus on rebuilding lost strength. Once you feel really good and strong then you can focus more on the other stuff like cutting. It's really important that you get back that strength asap to prevent a more permanent muscle loss.

Agreed here. I’m a med student and the docs I work with always prioritize you giving yourself a lot of nutrients you want to do everything you can to avoid losing weight Also your muscles are primed to build back up now. Once ur body realizes it’s not in starvation mode it’ll make hella gains

Sorry for novel, just wanted to add that with the drugs that caused you to gain weight (I’m assuming prednisone or smn), I’m sure you know this alr but as long as ur on em it’ll be harder to lose fat and you’ll retain water too but it’s literally nothing ur doing wrong
