1. find a time to go. it'll be less crowded in the morning and during the day when people have class. saturday and sunday mornings mine is empty. 2. have a plan. find a program. know what exercises you're doing and how many sets and reps. use youtube to figure out the correct form. 3. do a practice run. go in when it's empty and just find where the equipment is. figure out your working weights--you should be failing at the end of your last set. 4. go for real

it helps me to wear noise canceling headphones with music i like and wear outfits i feel physically and psychologically comfortable in (big sweatpants, breathable shirt for me, but yours may be different). bring water and wear flat-soled shoes. you got this!
