this isn’t common knowledge, and i wish i knew this earlier, but weed increases estrogen and decreases testosterone in dudes. it won’t affect gains as much as alcohol, but if you’re trying to maximize progress it’s worth avoiding

Also kills motivation, makes you okay with being average, increases appetite - in turn makes you eat garbage food that ruins the physique, etc. List goes on and on. Don’t do substances if you’re serious about your health and physique.

take it from someone who smoked daily for years straight, you won’t miss it after it’s fully out of your system

Is there a specific study on this? I found one that states the opposite: Thistle JE, Graubard BI, Braunlin M, Vesper H, Trabert B, Cook MB, McGlynn KA. Marijuana use and serum testosterone concentrations among U.S. males. Andrology. 2017 Jul;5(4):732-738. doi: 10.1111/andr.12358. Epub 2017 Apr 10. PMID: 28395129; PMCID: PMC5660879.

yeah, when it comes to instant gratification/ pleasure there’s no free lunch, just borrowing pleasure from the future. just because a source of pleasure is normalized, doesn’t mean that it’s not impacting you negatively

That’s a great way to put it. Borrowing pleasure from the future.

“A 2018 study in Andrology looked at healthy guys without clinically low T who had consumed marijuana at some point in the last five years. Researchers found that healthy guys who had smoked within the last 30 days had higher serum testosterone levels compared with those who hadn’t imbibed in a while. Another study, published in the World Journal of Urology in 2020 found similar results—that marijuana use was associated with small increases in testosterone.” From men’s health magazine
