GodDAMN it. Why is my strength all of a sudden going down on my lower body lifts? I haven’t changed much and was making decent progress for a bit. The only thing I tweaked was doing dead stop squats as a replacement for regular squats on 1 of my leg days

Maybe I’m going too heavy too soon? Or I’m doing too many sets with heavy weight low reps? Ugh I feel like a depressed piece of shit

Okay well I take that back KIND of, I was exaggerating a bit there. most of my lower body lifts are okay - hip thrusts, leg curls, Bulgarians, leg extensions, hip work is fine. But ever since doing dead stop squats, my regular squats and leg press strength have both taken a toll. Even though I do all 3 regularly. Not all in one session ofc

And I get that progress isn’t linear, but I’d at least expect my strength to not keep dropping over the past tonight

And the reason I started doing dead stops in the first place was to get better at getting out of the hole on regular squats. But it’s having the opposite effect, even on leg press strength

Maybe it’s an issue where I’m getting to used to eliminating the stretch reflex in dead stops
