Hey I’m a slim guy and recently I’ve been going to the gym more consistently this past week. I’m hoping to build muscle but I’m confused on the food aspect of it. Like do I go out and buy protein drinks before my sets or something? Any advice?

You wanna make sure your protein intake for the day is enough. Somewhere in the ballpark of a gram per pound of bodyweight. This means eating things like chicken, ground beef, and eggs more often in addition to having the occasional protein shake or Greek yogurt.

What about calories? How do I properly calculate the amount I need to eat

I'd look up TDEE calculator on Google, it won't be exact but it'll give you a ballpark so you'll need to adjust accordingly. For example if it tells you to eat 2500 calories but you don't end up gaining any weight increase how many you're eating
