Why is the scale going up when I workout 5-6x a week. For reference I have a job where I sit and stand and don’t walk a lot. When I go to the gym I hit the treadmill then wo. Then I eat at night I also gym at night the scale has gone up despite this
Caloric surplus and/or drinking or eating before weighing yourself. Personally, I always weight myself right after I’ve woken up and went to the bathroom that way it’s the most accurate reading since I would be fasted and not have excess water weight

If you’re putting on muscle the scale won’t move

It’s just I don’t eat till night time usually in the middle I eat the barest of minimums then at night I try to have a high protein meal but the scale either stays the same or doesn’t go up or down tho, I did eat uncontrollably on the weekend which might have affected it

Yeah you are either at a calorie maintenance (meaning you eat as many calories as you burn) or in a caloric surplus (meaning you eat more calories than you burn)

That’s not true. Even if you are putting on muscle, eating in a caloric deficit will cause weight loss. Your body can’t create matter out of nothing.

Yeah but if you’re putting on muscle you’ll still lose fat and muscle is way easier to put on in the beginning so it’s understandable the scale isn’t moving rn. I put on hella muscle going into my prep cuz I had an insane protein intake even being at a 200-400 cal deficit

You still wouldn’t gain mass because again, your body can’t just create tissue out of nothing. Muscle does have greater water retention though, so that could be reason the scale doesn’t move.
