Your ass was likely mostly fat and not a lot of muscle. To get your ass back, high protein diet, do exercises to target the glutes like hip thrusts, RDLs, kicbacks, abductors, etc.

Regain the butt with muscle instead of fat

How? Is this based off of exercises or eating certain things?

Well you need muscle building foods but also glute exercises

stairs don’t build your ass

Yes they do. Do 150 flights of stairs three times a week

Or like 30 mins if flights aren’t measured

do you understand what causes hypertrophy?

Doing a stairmaster to build your glutes is like trying to build your biceps with 1 pound dumbells and spamming curls for 30 minutes straight

If you want a fat ass you're gonna need more than stairs. If stairs are enough to build your ass you have to be seriously out of shape. You're better off lifting heavy weights and progressively overloading

So what is the point of stair machine if it doesn’t do anything apparently? I don’t buy it

No, it’s literally just for cardio lol

Find someone with large muscular legs who got them exclusively from the stairmaster lol

It might be for cardio but it will also definitely make your glutes bigger

You may find some VERY marginal glute development in someone who is untrained, as a beginner is very sensitive to growth and stimulus, but if you want anything even remotely substantial past the very early beginner stage, a stairmaster is not going to work. Please stop spreading misinformation, there’s people here looking for good advice, not bullshit.

Okay. How about you look up research on muscle growth from cardio. Based on the research, you actually DO GROW MUSCLE FROM CARDIO. Maybe learn a little bit before saying I’m spreading “misinformation,” because it’s not my fault you’re too lazy to do cardio. Doing cardio alone won’t get you huge legs, but it will make them bigger

I literally said in my comment “marginal glute development” but reading is clearly hard for you. Someone trying to grow a meaningful amount of muscle (aka OP) is going to need a lot more than that. Again, calm down with the misinformation.

And if you want to talk research, I have a degree in kinesiology and am a full time personal trainer lol

You also said, and I quote, “it’s literally just for cardio.” Why would someone looking for a more defined butt not want to do something that offers “marginal glute development”? Again, just because you may not want to use the stairmaster does not mean it can’t be helpful for other people looking for more glute development. I didn’t say that only using the stairmaster would build massive glutes, but it will definitely help to add some mass on top of other exercises. Is that better?

Not really actually. If you’re not a complete beginner, the fatigue accumulated from a stairmaster would likely be worse than the stimulus you get, so I’d actually tell anyone who wants to grow their glutes as best as possible to actively avoid the stairmaster

And your original comment said “more stairs” implying that you should be using the stairmaster as one of your primary glute builders. That’s just not good advice.

That was someone else but I think we can all agree that the stair master is a balanced part of having a big ass

We can absolutely not agree on that lmao. It’s a baseless claim and runs contrary to everything we know about how hypertrophy works

And you can do a stairmaster, it’s good for cardio. it should be considered something entirely separate and unrelated to building your glutes though.
