Is doing a bunch of stationary workouts (push-ups, sit-ups, etc) okay to start out? Gym culture is so intense idk if all that's for me...

Yes. Don’t over complicate it, do what you understand. It’ll save you plenty of time and you’ll make better gains

you won't make better gains, but it's much better than what you're doing now (nothing). i highly recommend working your way up to the gym. online gym culture is not reflective of most irl gyms.
