I mean that is true tho calories in calories out is definitely true but calories in is a lot more complicated than just how much calories you eat. people’s metabolism actually takes in a variable amount of those calories

metabolism definitely plays a role and its obvious for people who have hormone or thyroid disorders especially. before my mom realized she had hypothyroidism she was def eating in a caloric deficit and she was going to the gym multiple times a week and she kept in a high weight. turns out her thyroid was so damaged it looked like swiss cheese, and its why she couldn’t seem to lose the weight or feel energized at all

I may be confused as to what you mean bc genetics do play a part in your body type? I used to have a super fast metabolism and gaining weight was genuinely hard for me before I being put on meds that had weight gain as a side effect

Being naturally lean is definitely a thing

i guess maybe i read it wrong i just think anyone who has low body fat and high muscle is doing something special but maybe i’m thinking of lean at a different standard than them

Yeah I think they probably mean lean as in skinny not lean as in shredded, which you absolutely can just be naturally built thin

This is also true, but I think metabolisms vary less than people think

yeah i agree i think it’s way more to do with their natural appetite signals, if they actually tracked their calories it would almost always line up with their weight unless there’s a health issue involved

then she got thyroid medication and switched her diet to an anti-inflammatory diet rather than just a regular diet and even though she was eating as many if not more calories, she lost the extra weight like crazy fast
