So I’m on the cut for the first time and went to the gym after following a calorie deficit for a week and couldn’t lift the same weight. Am I losing muscle?

You need to get a good amount of carbs in people’s issues is they go on caloric deficits and neglect carbs. Carbs is the energy you are going to use in the gym so u need to still get a lot of them during ur cut. It’s not that u can’t lift that weight u or are losing muscle ur body is just lacking the proper energy that is needed for you to go to the gym.

Yes. The gym is important to keep muscle so if you ate lower for a week and didn't gym until a week later then eating protein probably still wouldn't be able to sustain all the muscle

sorry but yeah… in MY OPINION you should increase your protein by a lot when you’re in a deficit bc you lose fat AND muscle. when in a deficit protein should be around 1.2g per lb of body weight. also hitting carbs, especially simple carbs, like 15 mins before you lift helps increase ur energy so your still pushing weight. if you want tips DM me and i gotchu. i was over 230 lbs in 2021 and then completely transformed my body My credentials btw:
