Losing my fucking mind waiting for 10 minutes while the 60 year old woman sits in the hip adduction machine doing 1/4 reps of 5 pounds for 500 reps and scrolling on her phone. I’m all for inclusivity, but if you’re not using the equipment, FUCKING MOVE

Old age, light weight, high reps, sounds to me like she's either doing mobility work or physical therapy. Not everyone is in the gym to become a hulking beast.

So it seems like she was using the machine you just didn’t like how she was doing it. Get a grip

you’re not at all serious about lifting if you think “go do a different exercise” is a valid response

oh but it is. you can do abductions without the machine and or do something else until it comes available who gives af

First off, learn to read, adductions. Second, I (and many other people) follow a plan, and aren’t just going to make shit up on the fly for our workouts because continuity matters a lot. Third, it’s completely valid to be annoyed by someone taking up equipment when they are not using it properly. I would never fault an older person for taking up equipment if they’re using it, but if you’re fucking scrolling while working out and not even attempting to use the machine properly, yeah fuck off.

I’m reading your whiny ass comments as we speak just fine for one, two then so sit on your bitchy ass until it’s available then whether they’re using it properly or not doesn’t change the fact it’s simply not available. going out of order is not going to ruin your precious workout plan I didn’t say make anything up crybaby cupcake

Damn this touched a nerve with you lmao. It’s not that serious, have you never complained about something that a lot of people clearly relate to? I’m not actually bothering anybody, and I’m quite aware it isn’t a very big deal. You’re turning something that 99% of people see and say “haha that’s relatable” into this rage filled crusade because I complained about it on an anonymous social media app. Get over yourself.

Can you tell me exactly how she was using the machine? There are wrong ways to use equipment, and using them as chairs is one of those wrong ways

You literally said she was doing quarter reps. Sometimes people can’t do the full thing all the way and have to modify for their body’s. And I use my phone while working out too when doing cardio or on a machine that needs less focus and I’m still working out just as hard

Cardio is VERY different than weights, and if you are able to scroll on your phone while doing your reps, you are definitely not training hard lmao. Again, she spent about 10 minutes straight doing reps, meaning the weight isn’t even remotely challenging and she’s essentially using the machine as cardio. You don’t get to take up weights if you’re not going to use them as intended.

Maybe she isn’t working out to gain muscle but to stay in shape and stay active? Why are you policing her when you have no idea why she’s doing it that way. It’s not a sin to use a machine for cardio and you can wait your turn for 10 minutes

Because weight machines are quite literally entirely meant to be used to gain muscle. You don’t get to use equipment improperly and expect people to be fine with it. If you want to use a cardio machine, use a treadmill. God, the entitlement to think it’s completely fine to take up equipment you aren’t even using is insane.

I mean holy shit, how would you feel if someone took up a squat rack or bench to do jumping jacks? Oh but “it’s not a sin to use a machine for cardio” even if you’re being incredibly inconsiderate to everyone else around you by taking up equipment that you aren’t using. Use your brain dude. There’s dedicated cardio equipment and dedicated weightlifting equipment. You don’t get to fuck around on one and not use it as intended, learn some gym etiquette.

My entire point is she is using it. People use things differently based on what they need. If she was literally just sitting it’d be different but she wasn’t. It’s entitled for you to act like you own the machine and police how others use it

Guys like you are why people are so self conscious about going to the gym. She’s fully using the machine just not fully doing it but doing more reps. Who tf cares wait your turn

It’s not entitled to expect people to use machines the way they’re intended to be used if they’re going to occupy them. If you are scrolling on your phone and doing crazy amounts of reps with no weight, you’re not using the machine. It is the equivalent of sitting on a chair and swinging your feet.

if you think 10 minutes straight of continuous reps is “using the machine” then you genuinely have no idea what you are talking about. It’s not hard to be courteous to others in the gym.

If I’m doing half reps I might. I tend to do 100 if full reps with low weight. My trainer has me do half reps of some exercises and machines tho

Respectfully, as someone with a degree in kinesiology, I heavily disagree with how your trainer prescribes recovery. 100 is so far from any remotely challenging weight that you’re essentially just flailing your limbs
