A couple people I've asked directly get weird about it. They act like asking what they're looking for in a relationship means you're getting super serious when you just started chatting

That's fair, I don't get the nonchalant thing and I've had my therapist ask if I've considered whether I could be on the spectrum so I'm probably just overly direct with this kind of thing
