People need to stop using their metabolism as an excuse as to why you can’t lose. The metabolism of humans does not vary to the point where two people can eat the same amount and only one will get fat. You’re just not eating in a deficit.

Actually it does cause my maintenance is 2600 but a girl who doesn’t work out probably has a maintenance of 1800-2000. But, yes I do agree that people need to figure out what a deficit is for their body.

Well yeah you’re exercising and actively going out of your weight to raise your energy expenditure. That’s not a metabolism thing, that’s an exercise thing.

This is poorly worded. I see what you mean tho. Basal metabolic rate can vary from person to person regardless of physical activity. A 10-15% variation equates to hundreds of calories so it’s not really insignificant. But yes, still not an excuse for 99% of people

Even a difference of 300-500 calories is not significant enough to completely impede weight loss. People will swear that they only eat 800 calories a day (idk why it’s always 800 and are still fat when that isn’t possible. I see your point though.

True but the variance makes it more difficult to find where your maintenance is. Lots of uninformed/newer people just use a basic tdee calculator online and take that as word of god then use it as their own expenditure. I think that (along with completely miscalculating calorie intake) is the biggest problem and why people have trouble. But yes I guess it boils down to just thinking you’re in a deficit versus actually being in a deficit lol.
