if i’m trying to build size, would it be better to do 12 reps or 6 or 7 reps at the next weight up?

It’s not better there almost isn’t even a difference as long as ur close to 0 reps in reserve however lower weight for the higher rep range is definitely better for reducing risk of injury

Perceived exertion literally doesn’t matter at all he’s asking for size and there isn’t any significant difference in any study between a lower and higher rep range one is just simply safer ask your self why when people are getting paid to get big (bodybuilders) are they focusing on higher reps

perceived exertion DOES matter. hypertrophy is triggered by going close to failure. if you perceive you're working harder you won't push yourself as hard and you won't get as close to failure.
