Recently been helping my overweight friend get into the gym and cardio is like our biggest problem rn. He does fine on lifts but I tried to get him started on incline walking and it was a little too much. Gonna try intervals for it. Anyone got advice?

For referenced intervals are like 5min normal no incline walk at a moderate pace and then like 3 mins with an incline a little faster

Depends how overweight. If it's overweight to the point of medical issues then you'd need to start lower. More on the line of just normal walking then after a couple weeks advance to 5 min walking 2 incline at like the smallest incline

I wouldn’t increase incline AND speed. Each variable introduced is going to have a compounding effect on difficulty. Fine for someone who is already in it a bit, but I wouldn’t recommend for that level of beginner.

Basically got him going on that rn we rolled it back to just 10k steps a day for consistency in movement and diet control
