and through it all, what can you do but enjoy what you can? make art, play music. spend time with those you love. we (i’m 24) were born into a society past its peak, expecting the same luxuries that our parents had. i find myself wallowing in it quite a bit, as an artist who has always dreamed of turning my work into a livelyhood. but how much of my idea is a romanticized caricature of how things were/are? many great artists struggled through war, poverty, civil unrest, oppression, hunger
and we see their work and see their image, but we don’t feel what they felt. we feel our own struggles, and as americans, we see where we’re heading and worry and worry because we grew up pampered at the tail end of a great dream. i worry that my kids won’t have the luxuries that i had; clean water, accessible food, education and endless entertainment. safe community. health care. but, what use is there in worrying about that? can’t let it hold me back from living and appreciating what there is.
