Modern “democrats” are not the same as “democrats” from the 1800s. A 5-6th grader knows this.

I love people being attached to the party names but not the ideology that came with them. Democrats back in the day were conservative, and Republicans were liberal

And those same democrats would vote republican today, because the ideologies flipped. Democrats were much more conservative than they are now, and republicans were very liberal
