I realized probably the second book based on his behavior towards Harry. I was like “he’s got a grudge that’s also an obsession”

I remember reading HP as a 10 year old and even though I didn’t realize Snape’s obsession as soon as I read PS, it didn’t surprise me at all that he ended up loving Lily. I had always seen Snape in a similar light to Darth Vader, so that probably helped me realize he was also informed by grief for the main character’s mother.
