Do y'all recommend birth control? And if so which do you use? I want to get on it to not turn out pregnant but I'm so scared of the side effects it will have on my body and emotionsšŸ’”

i have the Skyla iud, it didn't really fuck with my emotions at all. there's little to no difference, i just don't get my period as often anymore. only downside is that it's inserted into your cervix and lives there for a few years, but i've had zero issue with mine

Switched from an oral contraceptive to an IUD and while my body is still trying to regulate itself after the change, the side affects have been less compared to that of the pill

I’ve been on ortho-novum 777 for like 2-3 years now. I’m around 120 pounds and have been every since I started taking it, my acne has cleared up a lot, and my depression has been slightly better. I recommend this one āœŒšŸ¼

I was on the pill for a while, it made me depressed and gain ALOT of weight while also lowering my sex drive, the irony 😭😭. Switched to the Mirena IUD, it hurts like hell to get in but after the first day I’ve had zero issues!

I would def avoid the combined pill, it has the worst side effects. I got off of it in August and I had such bad acne and hair loss after and while I was on it I was always bloated. Many girls also get depressed

I’m on Hailey FE, I switched from the kyleena IUD. The first couple weeks were fine, but going into week 3&4 I was in a major slump. Like waking up wishing I didn’t and just couldn’t function more than going to work and going to sleep :/ getting the iud placed hurts, definitely have a driver if you go that route and be sure to take some tylonal or ibuprofen before you go! Extra strength if possible!

I dont reccomend birth control personally bc it fucks up ur hormones. Ur period is an indicator of your health. The periods u get on bc are not real.

some of us have fucked up hormones, and that’s why we’re on it. bc isn’t just for pregnancy prevention

First of all, it’s called a withdrawal bleed. I understand how you think they’re not ā€œrealā€, but they are still an indicator you are not pregnant, and you will still be able to tell if something is wrong the same way your ā€œnormalā€ period would. Secondly, birth control also helps a lot of women regulate their hormones; it affects everyone differently.

Is mirena the 8yr or the 5yr? Can’t remember the name of the one I have (the 8yr). I had a lot of the same problems on the pill fr and I’m hoping I can finally lose some weight this summer

I’m pretty sure the mirena is 8 yrs. I didn’t lose much of the weight I gained (have not really been trying lol), but I have stayed pretty stable. My mental health has gotten better but I also feel like it may have made my ADHD worse, but that might just be me. I’ve been on it for about 8 months so idk šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
