hiii in normalizing the safe sex conversation i want to ask what experiences people have had with diff types of birth control? i’ve been on depo injections for 2-3ish years and have had no issues - but i’m exploring other options!

i’ve had a hormonal iud for two years now and the insertion sucks but i love how you get it and forget it instead of regularly taking pills or shots. i got it for sti protection since i got really lucky with short and light periods with minimal cramping but i’ve found the iud actually prolongs my period and makes it browner

i don’t think my body has had any adverse reactions to hormones thus far but i do worry because i know everyone’s body operates differently. i think i’d mostly be looking at an IUD for less maintenance

I've been on the pill for almost three years and personally I love it. My periods were already pretty regular but the pill straightened them out completely and I can clock when I'm getting my period without doubt. Best thing though is that it hasn't fucked with my body at all, no weight gain or anything like that, no side effects in general! (:

i have a copper iud! i’ve had it for almost 3ish months now and i love it! my first period with it was definitely a little weird and the insertion was NOT fun but i really only cramp around my period and sometimes spot a little now. 10/10 recommend

I have been using Nexplanon for the last 6-ish years. The doctors put a little stick in my upper arm with local anesthetic (no pain no soreness, just a little bruising). In all of the time that I have used this BC I have not had a period or cramps! I will say though, even before BC I didn’t have cramps and I don’t have endo so idk what it would be like for people who do I also had it replaced a few weeks ago- the procedure was the same as insertion (painless)

I have nexplanon and I like it. My periods are just kind of irregular (21-35 days seems to be my range)

I have a hormonal iud, I like it cuz my periods aren’t as bad now. I don’t have to remember to take birth control, it’s always there

i had liletta iud. i loved her except it was pretty big so every time i had sex i would get the most diabolical cramps after. so i switched to pills. HATE THEM SM. i think they’re makin me gain weight and im extremely depressed.

ik everyone’s different but for me getting my iud inserted was so easy. it’s a very strange feeling but it didn’t hurt. it felt like they were scratching behind my belly button in a very strange way but it rly didn’t hurt at all. and getting it removed was a 5 second process. DO IT BEST BIRTH CONTROL EVER

i haven’t had periods at all on depo - maybe i should plan on getting some liners?

i would recommend a pad over a liner, i bled quite a bit after which is completely normal and my office gave me a few for the day if i needed more than one! you’re not allowed to use a tampon or anything like that until after your string check appointment that’s usually a month later

no, the pill didn't stop my periods but it made them extremely predictable/regular. Same consistent 28 day cycle the whole time, it's very nice
