Circumcision is genital mutilation and has no reason to be common practice outside of religious beliefs. Furthermore, parents should not be allowed to make decisions about a child’s body without the child’s consent.

So parents shouldn’t be required to protect their kids from eradicated diseases like polio with a vaccination since they need the child’s consent, yeah no.

OP and #2 can stfu Not even a hot take it’s a dumbass opinion. Coming from someone who’s very happy to be circumsized. Nobody wants a worm dick and I’m happy I don’t have one now. I’m thankful every day that I don’t have any recollection of the pain I’d have if I did the procedure today. Yall are so dumb

My hot take is that it shouldn’t be allowed for religious reasons either. Human rights should trump religious beliefs. Always. If that child wants to get a circumcision when they’re older? Sure. But it’s completely unnecessary, nonconsensual, and can even kill the child.

That’s entirely fucking irrelevant. Performing a COSMETIC PROCEDURE on a NEWBORN BABY for the purpose of SEXUAL ATTRACTIVENESS is FUCKING INSANE!

I guess let’s start doing liposuction on every baby that’s delivered overweight. Wouldn’t want their future sexual partners to find them unattractive, right? That’s literally how you fucking sound right now.

Nice strawman. But one is a cosmetic surgery that can kill the baby and one is a quick and painless lifesaving jab. Not only that, but it’s about OTHER children, not just the yours.

How many babies have died for circumcision? Also a straw man traditionally is done in bad faith; I used the same logic as OP, you know bodily autonomy and consent of the children, you see how ridiculous it sounds now. Mind you I believe in vaccination schedules.

Just because you’re happy about the procedure, doesn’t mean I am. And there’s no way to undo it. Even if it’d hurt, at least you’d have the option to get circumcised. I’m going to be angry about the way my body looks and works now for the rest of my life

i was talking about body modification, not life-saving health procedures like vaccination. ridiculous strawman

It’s not a strawman when I use your own logic, which is based in child consent and clearly a parent does not need consent to do what’s best for the child.

So your point is that parents should get to decide everything about their children’s bodies? I dont agree with that at all, because I believe children have human rights, including bodily autonomy.
