correlation =/= causation. it could be the other way around, if certain types of trauma tend to lead to certain kinks, then porn will be made of those kinks. while desires are unique they tend to have similar themes relating to control, autonomy, embarrassment, pain. it seems obvious that these are themes that are produced by traumatic circumstances

i'm not saying porn doesn't reinforce the influence of unhealthy sexuality in our culture but i do think it's silly to make such a definitive statement about causality based only on evidence that these things tend to overlap. there are so many factors that can influence human sexuality
