Oh I don’t, it’s just that most have the sense NOT to condone actual crimes that they would become an accessory to. Like no Barb, your pastor didn’t tell you to harass a single mom into giving you her baby because you think god sent you to “free them from a sinful life”

I’ve heard this excuse used for a lot of things ranging from tampering with birth control to trying to steal babies to making false reports to CPS. It’s basically a tactic where the person clearly in the wrong tries to claim that authority figures agree with them to appear morally right in a situation.
