Here’s my hot take, people love to hate the police and generalize them, but let me ask this; do you hate every retail worker? Generalize them? Hate every doctor? Hate every therapist? No? Maybe take a look at that.

Bro… doctors, therapists and retailers don’t have an over 50% domestic abuse rate. They don’t murder unarmed civilians and then get protected by the PD. They don’t plant drugs in the vehicles of minorities. ACAB means that the police system itself is bad, which is true.

Retail workers, doctors and therapists aren’t narcissists with guns responsible for enforcing the law. I don’t tense up over the possibility of getting shot or arrested for no reason when I encounter a retail worker.

So just to clarify… you’re suggesting that every cop is a narcissist with a gun because of your fear of enforcement, but I’m the one generalizing? Accountability is one thing. Blanket slander is another. I never said there aren’t problems, I said stop pretending every badge is a villain in a mask. That’s not activism. That’s projection.

I never said you were generalizing anything. I just pointed out why no one generalizes other workers like they do cops. I don’t have to worry about winding up dead if I say the wrong thing to my therapist.

If every cop is dangerous, but every generalization is wrong… what are we actually doing here? You’re not pointing out injustice. You’re just making sure everyone knows you’re scared. And while I’m not dismissing that fear, I won’t let it rewrite reality either. Some of us have actually taken the time to meet the badge behind the uniform. Try it sometime.

That’s nice. I don’t really have time to meet the badge behind the uniform when I’m pulled over and anything I say can be used against me in a court of law. What point are you even making here? Be nicer to the ones who can incarcerate you for hurting their feelings? Believe me, I try. Their feelings are pretty damn fragile.

So your solution is what? Generalize harder? Dehumanize louder? Cool. Let me know when that brings actual change. I’m not asking you to hold hands with a badge, I’m asking you to not copy paste your fear on to every cop who walks past you. You want to call that “protecting their fragile feelings?” Fine. I call it acknowledging that not every person in uniform is your villain… but maybe that’s too much reality for your echo chamber.

I didn’t come here offering a solution to anything nor am I an activist. I just answered your question about why all those other professions aren’t generalized. Cops are assholes. I’d really love to think differently but every interaction I’ve had with an officer proves otherwise. You want to talk solutions? Maybe train them to do more than just use a gun and fill traffic violation quotas? You’re acting like they don’t fuck people over for a living.

Thank you for your opinion, Officer YikYakFinger 🚓💅 But I don’t recall asking for a bedtime story about your fragile perception of justice. Not all cops are bad? Okay. And not all fast food workers spit in your drink. But if you’re thirsty enough times, you stop sipping. I’m not here to hug a badge. I’m here to survive one.

Fast food workers don’t have qualified immunity. They actually get fired if they’re caught spitting in a drink. Meanwhile a cop can make up any reason to ruin your life, or end it. I’m here to survive a badge too, and that starts with holding police accountable and not licking their boots. It doesn’t matter if not all cops are bad, they chose that responsibility and should be prepared to face persecution.

Oh wowie zowwwie 😃✋ what a slippery slope we’re skiing down today, huh? Nobody said cops are perfect, but acting like they’re a monolith of doom is peak armchair analysis.

Armchair analysis? I already told you I’m basing what I’m saying on direct experience. I’m sorry you have some sort of problem with my answer to your question.

I have a problem when your answer tears down a human being with a decent heart to do a specific job because you had some “bad experiences” 😐✋ go get your pacifier and get out of my comments 😬💅

You asked a question and I gave you an answer. Bad experiences with cops aren’t exclusive to me, they’re pretty universal. A lot of time they end in innocent lives lost. Hence why they’re generalized a little more than retail workers. Sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to read while giving a cop a reach around.
