When people say that it’s not to say that we’re necessarily better than everyone or that women can’t suck either. It’s just a thing people say when they experience something infuriating. This extends to saying stuff like “ny drivers suck” “the dentist sucks” etc

At least from what I’ve seen, the tone used by many who say this comes across as bitter or despising rather than just joking lightheartedly as your other examples exhibit. Maybe in some instances if someone is getting over a breakup they might say it but not mean it
