So I’m rereading all the books after completing sunrise and I realized that the movies didn’t accurately depict The Capitol at all. In the books it’s described as buildings of all different colors with stained windows and lights making it look sorta like-

an acid trip. Both depictions make a lot of sense since brutalism in the movies fits the theme of a totalitarian dictatorship, since our world’s dictatorships use that style as well but the book’s more colorful Capitol reflects the decedent lifestyle of its Citizens. In Rome, primary sources describe how colorful and lively the city was especially at the height of the empire, since Panem is based off of the Roman Empire and its gladiatorial games.
