Fr and then when they say “it’s not a real drug I can’t get addicted” brother yes you can. I’ve been one of those people. You absolutely can get addicted

Hey man, they could be doing coke or fentanyl or pills or drinking, which is all pretty accessible and has actually killed people. I’m just saying that until America gets it healthcare situation fixed, we should just let ppl smoke a joint when they want—as long as they are not driving. And cannabis is used for people with chronic pain, side effects of other medication, for anxiety and anger management—many studies show its effect is different for a people. Those who need it, do.

I’m just not a fan of the excuses people be makin to smoke weed, I get some people do need it every so often to calm down and ease pains, it’s a problem when you need it once or twice every few hours though

And actually there’s a lot of research on it not helping anxiety, because initially it does (just like coke will initially give you an energy burst, feeling motivated) but will make you more anxious when you aren’t using it (coke again, for example, will make you less motivated when you come off it). Thus giving the feeling that you need it for this desired effect

Fr, unfortunately not all people understand that

The problem is that they are okay with driving when using it and they use it nonstop. I’m not opposed to the idea of people using it on a “as needed” basis, the problem is when the “as needed” basis is more than once every few hours - that’s called addiction. Cannabis can become just as dangerous as any other drug.

The point still stands, if they use weed it keeps them from using other things. There is no proof that marijuana alone has killed people or causes any more fatal or destructive behavior. It can do negative shit to your body, so does stress and pain and anxiety and many others things-social media is just as dangerous statistically. If you don’t like the smell okay, but if they’re not hurting you, it’s not the behavior to really dig on.

Sugar and exposure to harsh chemicals in our air do more damage to everything else. Also hemp itself is a very important resource that we’ve demonized due to stigma of marijuana use that is rooted in racism and government greed.

My previous point also still stands. People are just covering up the problem with a drug and not actually addressing it. And it becomes worse when you come off it. Best thing is to find something that’s not a drug that helps.

My point still stands as well - it’s the addiction that’s concerning. People are allowed to live their lives however they may please, do whatever drugs they wanna do, drink however much they want to drink, I’m not to stop others for how that want to live. I simply stated that it’s an ick to me that people resort to smoking weed to resolve the worlds problems and their problems, there are many other healthy alternatives where you don’t need to put that shit in your body.

Then you should be advocating for better healthcare and not on ppl who are not actively harming you. Let ppl do what they want when it doesn’t harm anyone, let people have a smoke break if they feel like they need it. Or give them help in a way that doesn’t demonize a large subset of human behavior.

Just curious, what would you define as “better healthcare”? Just because other options are presented doesn’t mean they’ll take advantage of it? Plenty of the people who smoke weed that I know would think “who cares if I have someone to talk to or something else, if my weed works it works” without thinking of the toll it takes on their bodies and on others around them

As in, they don’t have to worry about cost or embarrassment or stigma or abuse by going to the hospital or seeking medical care, they think that way bc of the system in place. And in turn, “my backs hurts” here’s opium, “I’m depressed” here’s a medicine that can make you want to die, many things. Or going in now “I rely on drugs to help me” okay gross junky we won’t listen to you. That’s the mindset you are also encouraging.

And if someone smoking weed at most makes them lazy or something, maybe yall have different lifestyles. I don’t hang out with smokers bc I don’t like the smell. But everyone acting like a weed user is some kind of addict in denial bc they smoke when they want is so crazy and rooted in an American mindset that was created by racism.

Well I guess on this we can agree to disagree, I also don’t see how any of this conversation has anything to do with racism.
