It’s not a good thing btw, religion is for Neanderthals who need a way to cope with their mortality. It’s especially a red flag for a man to have these beliefs and talk about about it 24/7 as those beliefs are rooted in misogyny, “it’s man who carved their terror into stone and called it God”

Religion is not used to cope with mortality. I have always felt I would rather believe in nothing so I can rest forever, but that is not what I know to be. I gain nothing worldly by following religion.

It’s not just for coping with mortality, it’s also helped me to find meaning through my suffering and given me a guidebook for moving about life. Also, you can be Christian and still critical of misogyny within your church and community.

i think this is like a "get outside and put down the phone" kind of comment because yeah a lot of religion is male-focused but there are so many denominations/interpretations of abrahamic religions especially that you don't have to adhere to a misogynistic one

Religion didn’t make your problems go away, you did that all yourself and give your power to an imaginary friend because you couldn’t find power in yourself, that’s not God, that’s being weak.

All abrahamic religion is sexist, go argue with a wall, even denominations that don’t interpret them as badly are still misogynistic it’s rooted from the core of these religions.

Gender difference is not inherently sexist. Roles based on sex is just an intrinsic fact of biology, it’s why we have genders at all

Which is something that sucks but its completely of the time and just because it was made under those ideals does not mean it cant grow and change over time. people don't follow scripture to a T when it comes to modern applications for a reason.

idk abt this one from a personal standpoint because i think both women and men can fulfill provider/nurturer roles and it's best if both are active in those areas

like the episcopalian denomination is so loose with who can be made a preacher that anyone can regardless of sex, sexuality, etc. the catholic church saddens me a little because women of the cloth can't have any upward movement beyond mother superior//sainthood afaik but its so traditionalistic that i can't see it changing

No of course, I agree completely that it’s not required, but having those roles emphasized in religion alone is not sexist

I mean maybe, but I actively do not fit into those typical roles and it’s no issue, it was mostly for people living in different times, old testament especially.

My problems never went away, but the prayers and community and that feeling of Jesus being with me through my problems has helped. I’m not disempowering myself by leaning into my faith to have the motivation to keep going.
