Personally, my biggest problem with them using the word isn’t the word itself, it’s the insensitivity, lack of consideration, and ignorance. Bc I think it’s common knowledge that many black people take offense to other races (especially white people) using the word, usually bc of its racist and oppressive origin. So when they still decide to use that word, knowing what it means to people, I definitely look at them differently. Like do you really need to use it that bad??
I don’t get why other white people feel the need to try to be oppressed. It takes simple knowledge to understand that because of history the N word holds much more weight than any “slur” used towards white people. You’ll be okay being called a few words as long as it’s not consistent abuse and force because of your skin color. Racism can happen both ways sure, but what youre experiencing is personal victimization over something you crave to be included in
Hot take. Why is saying the “N Word” so heavily frowned upon compared to other racial slurs that are often laughed off? Per say the “B word” for those of the Mexican descent or the “C word” for asians. Respectfully, I don’t understand. And what’s with this “Black and Asian people cant be racist BS” EVERYONE CAN BE RACIST REGARDLESS OF COLOR
nobody is saying other slurs are ok. there are other analogous hierarchical structures of perjoratives in other countries with genocidal histories like our own. the C-word and the B-word are bad and are slurs but the N-word is part of a legacy of obscene violence, like the K-word in south africa or the other K-word in germany
I agree people are like computers now only picking up on keywords but it’s the intention and context that is the problem generally. when we look at how ethical a discussion is we just look for the things the news and influencers say are wrong not at the actual meaning of a what someone’s saying. And a lot of these white (savior) girls are just waiting for the chance to regurgitate whatever half blind virtue signaling they heard preached on call her daddy, while dropping actual racist comments.
