Adults who use the “my parents never taught me” excuse for not doing something and then make it your problem. It’s not my responsibility to drive you everywhere all the time. Your 20 years old, a grown man, at this point not having a license is on you.

good point but not good example- there’s plenty of reasons someone might not have their license lol

I feel like at 20, you’re still learning at 26 you can be pissy they’ve had time and shoulda been called out by that point (but even then have some empathy jeesh not everyone has the same life path or opportunities or support) And the car analogy is kinda elitist ngl

I feel like the car example can be a little elitist and classist. One example that I have that is drives me crazy is when an adult able bodied person can’t clean their house or cook at all and then blame their parents. That actually drives me up the wall

I mean if they don’t have a car and can’t afford a class wtf are they supposed to do

upvote 22 downvote

this isn’t fair, especially in states like North Carolina where you need a car AND insurance before they’ll even allow you to get your license. a regular 20 year old can’t do that without SOME semblance of help from their parents. Now if they’ve graduated from college and shit then sure. But 20?

It’s so much more complicated then just getting your license. If you don’t have a support group, you won’t be able to get your license. No one to take you to get your permit? Uber… but with what money. Okay you got your permit? No person to drive you… driving school? Expensive. You get your license? Okay now you have to spend money on a car.. $$$$ Stoping acting like it’s an easy thing. It takes a community which some people don’t have or it takes a lot of time to get there on your own.

i’m a 22 yr old female & my mom didn’t allow me to drive & i didn’t get my license until i was 18 bc i needed it for college but i still don’t have a car but im learning slowly. i can drive around town but still trying to get to where i can drive in my city’s i still haven’t gotten on the interstate it really scares me & it makes me feel like a burden but my bf is patient with me & teaches me bc he knows i had a hard family life maybe instead of complaining you teach him how to do it🤷🏻‍♀️💓

Yeah that’s fair. Location can definitely have a huge influence on whether or not a license is necessary. That being said though, I can’t think of any other valid reason not to have one besides for health or legal reasons (like having it revoked or restricted in some way)

Not the point. Taking a driving course is not a necessity. If a family is broke there’s about a billion OTHER, more important things to spend that money on

Not in every state. In some states you can just go and take the driving test

upvote 6 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #19 12w

in my state yes, you need 6 hours of driving with a school, which you have to pay for. That’s after you pass the written test, then you have to have a permit for at least six months or until you’re 17 (whichever happens last) before you can take the test. Not all states have the same rules, but the way my state does it is kinda classist

thats a terrible excuse, the point is that she should not have to be the man’s personal driver just because “I was not taught”, you’re an adult with responsibilities such as being able to take yourself to YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.
