I don’t disagree with this post, but I will say considering this is the biggest music community on the app, talking about bands in general that aren’t specific to the topic will happen, and I don’t think that’s the worst thing in the world. Honestly, for the sake of finding other opinions on artists with like-minded people, I’m fine with it. Although, in Floyd’s case, yeah this should been brought up in the rock community (which should be bigger considering how broad rock is)

I’m literally the mod of the rock music community too, why not come post it in my community where it actually belongs??? The other day I even saw someone say that Arctic fucking Monkeys is indie

Yeah like I said I agree with the logic. I’m just saying that its bound to happen when indie is the largest community, and I don’t really think its that big of a deal. And I say this as a person who is in the rock community and not a part of this community. Also according to the internet, arctic monkeys are considered an indie rock band. Personally, i don’t think most artists that have been on mainstream rotations should be considered indie, but I know not everybody would agree.

Indie literally means independent. If it has a label it’s objectively not indie, then it becomes soft rock or something similar instead. Plenty of bands start out indie but don’t finish that way

I mean this ain’t exactly relevant to what I was saying, but sure, although many still have been on labels, they are just usually on smaller, less known labels. And from what I’ve seen, people often don’t tend to switch the indie labelling thing off when they suddenly get big (which like I said I believe that makes them not indie anymore, but many disagree for their own reasons)
