I live in a poorer area in the country. Everyone here is still considerate of servers. You can be poor and inconsiderate. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

The whole restaurant industry is built off of servers getting paid less by the employer which gets made up for in tips. If they ask their boss for a “raise”, they’re not going to get one because the entire industry is built off of getting tips.
